As a sophomore CS undergrad interested in ML research, I’m on a constant lookout for new opportunities and guidance. While scrolling through LinkedIn, the Mentorship Program offered by Women in Machine Learning and Data Science, Delhi (WiMLDS) caught my eye, and I applied immediately.

On the 29th of March, I was ecstatic to receive an email regarding my acceptance to the program, and eager to interact with my mentor and fellow mentees for this month long journey.

Shortly after, I was provided with information about my mentor Anushka Bhandari, who is currently an analyst for Goldman Sachs.

After an exchange of emails, and some scheduling, it was time for our first session! The meeting was introductory, wherein each of us communicated our expectations from this program and what we wished to achieve in the next four weeks.

We thoroughly discussed our individual aspirations and the various opportunities ahead of us to achieve our goals. The first task assigned to us was to come up with a roadmap for the next four weeks. Anushka emphasised the need to have big targets, and not to underestimate our abilities. She also concentrated specifically on each of our needs, and proposed 1:1 sessions the next week forward so she could cater to those needs to the best of her abilities.

I’m excited to see the progress I make in the following weeks!
